STORYTELLING at THE LRC
One of the key thrusts of our School is the promotion of reading and literacy. To this end, we are delighted to have been able to offer a long-standing storytelling programme which aims to inculcate the love of reading for knowledge, leisure and as a form of healthy recreation in our learners, particularly our ECY/EL students.
We strongly believe in the benefits of storytelling as it does more than the achieve the above. Storytelling also promotes the learning of culture and language as well as encourages creativity and imagination, which are essential building blocks of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Through storytelling and literature, students also get to develop their listening, comprehension and analytical skills… and not to mention the joy they get when listening to a good, heartwarming story.
Beginning Term 1, our LRC has organized monthly and weekly storytelling sessions for ECY and EL students respectively. Thus far, we are delighted to have had the support from students, parents, teachers and staff who had all volunteered as storytellers.
A great big thank you to all our storytelling volunteers who had come forward this school year. Our LRC continues to welcome all volunteers to help make BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, a community of avid readers.
