A Celebration of Storytelling and Creativity

From the moment Literary Week began, excitement filled the air as students immersed themselves in the power of stories. The event was designed to engage, inspire, and challenge students through interactive experiences that extended beyond traditional classroom learning.

For Primary students, the journey into literature started with a writing workshop led by acclaimed author Kak Rizal Iwan. Through his guidance, students discovered the art of storytelling, unlocking their creativity and enhancing their writing skills.

Taking their enthusiasm further, they transformed their narratives into delightful puppet shows, bringing characters and plots to life with energy and imagination.

One of the highlights of the week was a retelling of the classic story The Enormous Crocodile. Students embraced the joy of storytelling and character expression, making the tale their own. Dressed in masks of their favourite characters, they enthusiastically acted out scenes, demonstrating their ability to engage with literature in a fun and immersive way.

A Platform for Literary Excellence and Critical Thinking

Beyond storytelling, Literary Week encouraged students to think critically, articulate their ideas, and showcase their knowledge of literature. The BINUS Junior Literary Tournament saw students competing in a battle of literary expertise, answering questions that tested their comprehension and love for books.

For primary students, the Interclass Debate was an actual test of their critical thinking and public speaking skills. With well-structured arguments and compelling delivery, students debated thought-provoking topics, proving that literature is not only about reading but also about analysing, questioning, and discussing ideas.

Secondary students also had their moment to shine in the thrilling Literary Tournament, where their passion for books and storytelling took centre stage. A highlight of the week was their participation in a Speech Choir, where students combined rhythm, speech, and powerful delivery to create a truly unforgettable performance.

Poetry took on a new dimension as students explored emotion, language, and self-expression themes. Their verses painted vivid pictures of hope, love, and human experience, showcasing the depth of their creativity and understanding of poetic form.

Bringing Literature to Life Through Film and Presentation

As part of Literary Week, students were encouraged to push the boundaries of storytelling by bringing literature to life in innovative ways. Secondary students took their ideas to the next level by creating stunning short films, where they translated their creative visions onto the big screen.

Through scriptwriting, directing, and acting, they demonstrated how literature can be adapted into visual storytelling, reinforcing the importance of creativity in the modern world.

Another exciting platform was the Fluent, Relevant, Engaging, and Driven (F.R.E.D) Talks, where students delivered powerful presentations on essential topics. These talks allowed them to explore complex themes, express their perspectives, and refine their public speaking skills, demonstrating their ability to think deeply and communicate effectively.

A Lasting Impact on Students

More than just a school event, Literary Week at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi profoundly impacted students, inspiring them to embrace storytelling, develop a love for literature, and enhance their communication skills. It was a week when books became more than just words on a page. They became gateways to creativity, discussion, and personal growth.

Through interactive workshops, engaging competitions, and thought-provoking performances, students gained literary knowledge, confidence, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the power of words.

At BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, education is about nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically strong but also curious, articulate, and expressive.
