Stimulating Early Years Senses Development at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi through 2-Day Sensory Adventure Event

Sensory play holds a crucial role in the golden years of children’s brain development. The sensory exploration is a significant way for them to learn about their surroundings and environment. And, it also nurtures their well-being from the inside out.

At BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, we emphasise the importance of this learning practice through various in-class activities as well as special programmes. That’s the reason that we organise a 2-Day Sensory Adventure Event for our Early Years Students. Catch up with what experiences our little Binusians encountered during this year’s Sensory Adventure!

What Does the Sensory Play Learning Method Refer To?

Broadly speaking, sensory play is various kinds of activities where stimulation of children’s five senses is involved. The process of exploration allows children to interact with their surroundings, grasping, and processing the information.

In short, it is the most effective way for both babies and toddlers to learn about the world and develop their knowledge.

Sensory Play Unravels Children’s Potential

Usually, the sensory play requires children to create something out of something. The creative process allows them to observe, examine, search, and discover solutions in fun play settings.

However, the activities promote their cognitive growth and development, and refine the development of their motor skills, while also decoding their problem-solving and emotional skills. Above and beyond, the children also can improve their memory through regular sensory play.

Sensory Exploration  Under Summer Beach Vibe

Our dedicated 2-Day Sensory Adventure Event was designed with various activities that stimulate Early Years creativity and further exploration with a chilling ambience. Accompanied by our teachers, they explored this year’s Summer Beach theme from head to toe.

Striking Poses at Colorful Photo Booths

It all started with them picking up their attire that aligned with the Summer Beach vibe. Our little Binusians adorn themselves with various accessories before striking their ultimate pose at our colourful photo booths.

This simple activity lets our students express their emotions, engage with the moment and their comrades, and explore various expressions which are both fun and thrilling.

They also had to prepare themselves to embrace the first day with some warm-ups, sensing their body parts through the movements.

Craft with Sand and Water

The creative and exploration sessions began when they played with colourful toys with diverse shapes which accompanied the sand and water, as the sensory adventure main materials on Day 1.

Our Early Years students are deeply immersed in making shapes using sand and various moulds. The activity of painting patterns on white spread utilising watercolours was gaining serious attention from our young participants at the Sensory Adventure as well! The sand and water really provided a blasting moment for Early Years students on Day 1.

We adopt the utilisation of sand and water to facilitate their creative exploration since both are flexible in terms of shape and form. While playing with sand and water, the children will be encouraged to use additional tools to scoop or pour the materials, enhancing their motor skills.

Foam and Bubble Party: A Versatile Sensory Adventure for All Ages!

On Day 2, we guided our little Binusians at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi for outdoor sensory play. During the second day, they were still in tight skinship with water and participated in a fishing simulation using a mini pool, toy fish, and toy fishing rods.

The true joy happened when they splashed foam and bubbles, a party for everyone! The soft texture of bubbles and foam provides comfort that children can feel through their skin.

Surprisingly, these activities help children regulate their overstimulated emotions as well as improve their hands and eye coordination. Furthermore, it helps stretch out their imagination.

Shaping Comprehensive Well-Being

The Sensory Adventure Event for EY students is far more than just having fun. Rather, it’s a room for them to develop their skills. Various activities and tasks allowed their brain to process massive information in an enjoyable approach.

These activities presented by BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi help them to improve their social awareness and communication skills, optimise their cognitive functions, and strengthen their motor skills, which significantly impact their well-being from early on.
