BINUS SCHOOL Summer Youth Programme Offers Transformative Opportunities at Top Universities

The Summer Youth Programme is part of the Beasiswa Indonesia Maju (BIM) program which offers scholarship awardees the opportunity to experience enriching activities at top universities. BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi proudly supports this initiative, as it provides valuable enrichment experiences that open doors to new opportunities for students.

BIM Awardees Gained Insightful Experiences at Top Universities

In October 2024, BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi sent their four BIM awardees to join youth programmes at top universities in Indonesia, Singapore, China, and the United States. Kezia, Winner, Arya, and Kayla gained insightful experiences that allowed them to see future opportunities.

Arya went to Nanyang Technological University in Singapore to join the entrepreneurship class. During the three weeks, he learned insightful materials and knowledge about combining entrepreneurship skills with digital technology for future demands.

Winner interested in software development, went to Berkeley University of California. He joined a program where he was involved in an experimental project under the tutelage of accomplished professors.

Kayla went to Fudan University in China, where she and other BIM awardees explored their interest in Chinese culture and the international economy. Aside from doing shared projects, they joined cultural and historical tours in Shanghai and joined immersive projects, such as Chinese music and calligraphy.

Finally, Kezia, who stayed in Indonesia, visited Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agriculture Institute) in West Java. There, she met other BIM awardees from different regions in Indonesia and shared their experiences, knowledge, and culture. They also collaborated on various projects and discussions.

Why Does the Summer Youth Programme Benefit Students?

The four BIM awardees from BINUS SCHOOL had different experiences in their host universities. However, there are several notable benefits that they earned from their projects:

• Broadening Horizons

The BIM awardees in the Summer Youth Programme earned opportunities to broaden their horizons and experiences. They learned new things related to their interests and viewed the world from different points of view. They also learned about different cultures, an important skill for navigating social connections and consciousness.

• Knowing about Different Future Opportunities

BINUS SCHOOL’s mission is to create graduates with competence, skills, and traits that prepare them for the future. Students can see and consider different future opportunities with this Summer Youth Programme. For example, they may focus on specific knowledge for university and future jobs.

• Creating Bonds

During the Summer Youth Programme, BINUS SCHOOL students met fellow students from different provinces and even countries. They learned how to communicate both in casual and classroom settings. Students can improve their communication and social skills while forging bonds with their peers.

• Easier Access to Study Abroad Opportunities

Students received new experiences, connections, and certificates that marked their participation and achievement. They became great parts of my portfolio for pursuing educational opportunities abroad. Students can aim for top universities in Asia, the United States, or Europe.

• Polishing Leadership Skills

BINUS SCHOOL is proud to introduce various leadership skills to students, including during the Summer Youth Programme. Students can learn useful skills detrimental to leadership, such as time management, communication skills, active listening, making priority lists, and thinking out of the box.
