In a significant step towards supporting literacy and empowering communities, the Leo Club of BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi has distributed 1,000 free eyeglasses under the banner “Mata Sehat, Literasi Kuat!”. 

This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Lions Club and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, is more than a charitable gesture. It is a reflection of BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi’s research-driven approach to solving real-world challenges.

The distribution of free reading glasses highlights the school’s strong commitment to becoming a School of Research, where students are not only engaged in academic inquiry but also in projects that have direct and meaningful impacts on society. 

By combining data collection, analysis, and practical action, the initiative demonstrates how research can be applied beyond the classroom to transform lives.

A Movement Rooted in Service and Leadership

The Leo Club at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, comprising 60 dedicated student members, operates under the auspices of Lions Club International. It embodies the spirit of youth leadership, service, and responsibility. 

With an unwavering enthusiasm to contribute to society, these students are shaping themselves into future leaders who understand that education and empowerment go hand in hand with social awareness.

The event, where more than 1,000 free eyeglasses were distributed, was not merely a handout but a carefully planned response to an ongoing problem in Indonesian society. Poor eyesight is often an invisible barrier, preventing individuals from fully participating in education and daily life. 

By recognising this issue and taking action, the Leo Club has exemplified how student-led initiatives can create lasting social impact.

The slogan “Mata Sehat, Literasi Kuat” (Healthy Eyes, Strong Literacy) is not a mere tagline. It encapsulates the underlying philosophy of the project—that improved vision directly supports literacy.
