UN DAY CELEBRATIONS

We celebrated United Nations Day on Monday, 26th October 2020. This year, this annual celebration is indeed a special one as it marks the 75th anniversary of United Nations. In addition, the unexpected global health crisis can be regarded as a timely reminder of the struggles that many nations have gone through and are still possibly going through right now in combating COVID-19. It also serves to remind us that we should all do our part to come together to overcome this global pandemic and work together to bring about a positive change that we so need right now.

This call to unity is also very much in line with our School’s Vision and Mission where our students, as global citizens, are encouraged to think and reflect on the current situation and actions and do their part to foster and empower Society in building and serving the nation.

This year’s United Nations Day carried the theme, “Shaping our Future Together” and our School combined this theme with UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #3 Good Health & Well-Being, in view of our collective efforts to flatten the curve of the current pandemic.

One of the many highlights of this celebration included the showcase of traditional costumes from Indonesia and national costumes from around the world, which our students wore to the online event.

Students were excited to participate in the online quiz which focused on global diversity as well as direct and local actions they can partake in to fight against COVID-19. There were also online student performances, which kept our audience well entertained during the event.

To add to the excitement of the day, the MSHS celebration also included the Pinning Ceremony of our elected MS and HS Student Council Representatives for SY2020/2021.
